We all have favorite songs that have come to our heart and
soul, that make us dance, cry, jump and just be happy. What is your favorite
song? A question that often make my friends and to me it is easy to answer. But
having a favorite song does not mean leaving aside those other songs that are
special for me through these years. Today I decided to share with you 40 songs,
which were special for some reason, that marked moments in my life or just
because make me happy. 40 songs from child and teenage lyrics, to the most
transcendental. 40 songs since 16 years ago or just a few months ago, in
Spanish, in English, even in Korean, songs that remind me of my ex, old
friends, parties, family, concerts, among many other things.
This is my way to express myself and share with you my love for
pop music. You will find the link of the song, my favorite line and in the top
10 so you may know why those 10 songs are part of my life.

9. Upside Down - A*Teens (2000)
Womanizer was the song that revived my passion for Britney’s
music again, after her dark period of her personal life. Womanizer at the start
meant nothing to me with his lyrics, but eventually began to reflect some
moments of my personal life at that time. What is special about this song, is
that along with Gimme More, are two of my favorite songs I've managed to see live
when I attended the Femme Fatale Tour in Bogotá.
9. Upside Down - A*Teens (2000)
"I don't know why but dreaming's all I do"
No matter the situation I’m going through, Upside Down is my
happy song. If I feel sad this song makes me smile and for 3 minutes helps me
to forget the problems. This song makes me dream, dance, sing and just be
happy. This song recalls the best of my childhood and now that I’m an adult
still make me feel positive feelings.
8. Say You’ll Be There - Spice Girls (1996)
"I'm giving you everything all that joy can bring this I swear"
The Spice Girls were the group that defined and established
my love for pop music. Say You'll Be There brought back many memories of my
childhood. I was 10 years old and did not understand the meaning but I felt
from the beginning that this song was perfect. Today, almost 17 years later
sounds as perfect as it sounds when I was a child.

It's strange that my favorite Kelly Clarkson song is part of
the album that I less enjoyed. Though My December not touched me like her other albums, Maybe define everything I am, perfectly describes how I behave
when I fall in love, how complicated, sweet or confused I am in a relationship.
Maybe it's me in 100%.

When I talk about perfect pop songs I need to talk about So Good by Rachel Stevens. This song marked the breakup of my first
relationship that lasted almost three years and this song has since become an anthem of
strength and independence. But beyond themeaning, musically defines
what I want and love in a pop song.
"Make me feel like I can make it real"
Like a Drug was the song that made me a true Kylie Minogue fan. If I talk about songs that I've heard over and over again without stopping, this is one of them. This song is special because it was the first time I enjoyed live one of my favorite songs when I attended the X Tour in Bogotá and has been one of the most special moments I've experienced of all the concerts I've attended. Personally I do not identify with the lyrics, but the melody brings me to another state of mind.
4. The Boy I Used to Know - Marie Serneholt (2006)
"You used to touch me, give me that look, tell me those words, that made me think that love was forever"
If I could choose a song that would define my personality, I would choose this with no doubt. The lyrics describes in a simply something we have all experienced in our relationships, that used to seem perfect and in just a moment love lost. It's not a dramatic song and not a happy one, it's just a track with just one question: where is the boy we thought we knew?
3. The Day You Went Away - M2M (2000)
"Did I lose my love to someone better and does she love you like I do, you know I really really do"
I've never been a big fan of ballads, but from the beginning I considered this one as my favorite. Not slow, not 100% depressing, but with simple arrangements and their soft voices they show the feeling of sadness of losing the love you thought it was worth. Although when they released the song I really did not feel identified with the lyrics, now when I hear this song makes me think of the people who passed through my life and that despite the difficulties, let positive things to remember.
2. Stronger - Britney Spears (2000)
"You might think that I won't make it on my own but now I’m stronger"
Stronger from the beginning has been my favorite Britney song,
not only because I love this type of songs about breakups and independence (most of the songs from the top 40 are about this), but
also I fell in love with Britney because she was not only about cute and corny songs. What I
like about this song is that not only can take on the breakup of a
relationship, the chorus has given me strength and courage to continue
with many issues in my life, it sounds silly, but so is the power of music pop.

I remember the first time I heard the album Teen Spirit, the CD was new, I sat down to listen one by one the songs while watching the booklet photos when I got to the track #6. Not know what happened, all my attention was focused on a song called Rockin', the boys took the lead on a song with a pop-rock feeling and a sound that reminds me of 90's boybands style. Maybe that's what I love about Rockin', when you first hear sounds like the typical pop song about being in love with a superstar, for example in the lyrics I see you smiling on the TV, but also can take from other points of view: enjoy every little moment -We're gonna keep on rockin 'all through the night, we're comin' out to watch the world pass us-, also talks about love -As the raindrops fall down on me, why can not you see, I wanna be the one for you-, and the meaning that many fans can give (and that is the most obvious as the song ends with the sound of a crowd of fans) is about their fans and people who support them -you better quit what you're doin 'and look out for us-. Each can give the meaning you want, but at the end Rockin' is one of those songs about living the moment to the fullest and is the song that 13 years later fills me with happiness, encouragement, besides being the song I like to listen on my birthday to celebrate one more year of life. That's the magic of pop music.
The music allows us to express all that we hold, these songs reflected several moments of my life and I can consider this to be the soundtrack of my life.
