After a huge expectation, it’s time to listen Born This Way by Lady Gaga.
For those who expected a dance and commercial album, it’s not. This album shows a Lady Gaga experimenting with a mix of electronic sounds influenced by 80's and 90's pop, these influences remind us of old songs by Madonna and Cher.
This is an album that if you're a fan of Gaga you’ll love it, but those who are not fans will be at the point of love it or hate it. Among the things that stand out in this record is the production: is flawless, each song has details on both the voice and the music that deserves to be heard several times. RedOne productions and Fernando Garibay are very good but there is a style so noticeable that many songs are difficult to identify when you hear it for the first time.
This is not a dance album, and Gaga went from being the goddess of the disco in The Fame album to become the queen of the lyrics about acceptance, religion, identity and self esteem. The album's lyrics in some parts sound very forced and the religious associations are too much, something bad for what is supposed to be a pop album.
In Born This Way you're not going to find songs like Lovegame, Telephone or the great Bad Romance, and while Lady Gaga last year promised the best pop album of the decade, this doesn’t feel like it is, that doesn’t mean it's not a good album, it’s different, experimental and we’ll be talking about this album for the next months.
