Review: Simon Curtis - R∆ (Album)

If you thought that the best pop albums this year was in the hands only of Lady Gaga and Britney Spears, you were wrong, because this album has nothing to envy these 2 artists, it's time to hear RA by Simon Curtis.

Lately we have discussed in Bepop about Simon Curtis and the singles Superhero and Flesh, also last year we talked about his album 8bitHeart which was within the top 10 of the best of pop 2010 here and this year returns with full force to enter among the best of this year.

RA is a blend of robotic sounds we had heard earlier in his music, dark electronic sounds, rhythms that recall the sound of 90's pop and a touch of house and Dubstep.

The album opens with Laser Guns Up, which together with the Dubstep of Don’t Dance and Pit of Vipers have a dark and futuristic electro sound, the wonderful pop sound of Superhero and DTM (Dead to Me). Chip in Your Head has the robotic-sound of 8bitHeart to continue to the sexual moment of the album, the single Flesh. The anthem of the RobotArmy Get in Line is a mixture of pop like NSYNC but sounds dark and heavy, while I Hate U and Enemy are an outstanding effort to take the elements of Swedish 90’s pop mixed with modern sounds. The deep personal time comes with Joshua while he’s experimenting again with the Dubstep and closing with The Dark II: Return to the Dark.

RA is a giant step for Simon compared to the work of 8bit Heart, is a consistent and coherent work, with interesting lyrics and a very good vocal performance, this album has nothing to envy what other great artists and producers are doing right now.
