Nicola Roberts released her first solo single titled Beat of my Drum. The song produced by Dimitri Tikovoi and Diplo (producer of Goldfrapp and M.I.A.), is a clear example of what a pop song should be: fun, happy, sticky, and without meaning. While the other Girls Aloud follow trends in the R & B and hip-hop, Nicola dares to experiment with new sounds in her music and surprising all those who expected a sound closer to what the band had done previously.
It’s her moment to shine after being considered the ugly one of the female group, in Beat of my Drum shows that she learned from her experiences with the group with strong lyrics like see how strong you've made me now, and a catchy chorus L, O, V, E Dance to the Beat of my Drum.
On the music video we can see a Nicola that is gaining confidence every second that passes in the video, it's pretty simple, fun and with a European touch.
Nicola began to show her pop star quality, and give us one of the most exciting pop songs of 2011.
