Pop
Perfection, is the first thing that comes to mind when thinking about the first
album by the former member of Girls Aloud, Nicola Roberts.
After 2
singles, b-sides, and one and another song that came to increase the
excitement, we can say that this is one of the most outstanding pop records of
the year.
Cinderella's
Eyes, is an album full of pop, synthesizers, sounds of 80’s pop, good
production and an overall excellent handling of lyrics, which not only gives it
to Nicola the chance to show his vulnerable side, but also the chance to shine
and have fun.
The album
opens with the magnificent Beat of my Drum and Lucky Day, and follow the path
to a set of songs full of energy, Yo-Yo is the potential next single, with a
sincere letter on a unsure relationship, followed by the song which gives its
name to the album Cinderella's Eyes is an entertaining but profound
conversation between Beauty Sleep and Cinderella with phrases such as
Gingerbread Man, I tried to seduce me, His Head Off, I'm allergic to dairy,
takes the song between sounds that seem taken from a fantasy game from the
80’s. The album continues his excellent way with the emotional and personal
Porcelain Heart and I, and the excellent cover of the song Everybody's Got to
Learn Sometime by The Korgis
The anthem
Say It Out Loud is a high point in the album, followed by Gladiator a Blackout
(Britney Spears) type of song, the album closes with the only ballad Sticks +
Stones, that confession is undoubtedly the biggest and deepest song of the
album, revealing their most sensitive and difficult time expressing her
adolescence, and her Girls Aloud time.
Cinderella's
Eyes is an excellent debut album, and has everything to become a classic pop
album, good production (Metronomy, Diplo, Dragonette), good and interesting
lyrics, an amazing vocal performance and Nicola Roberts looking like a real pop
star. Although commercially not have been easy, it is by far the best solo
album we have heard and that surely we will hear from a former Girl Aloud.
